Wendefokus – Eva Maria Scherf
A long time history project of Radio Corax was and is the so called “Wendefokus”. This is a radio talk serial dealing with oral history. The idea behind it is to talk to people reflecting on the time of the change in Eastern Germany 1989/90, talking about their individual experiences, memories and estimations and conclusions. In this episode we interviewed Eva Maria Scherf. Today, she publishes books about local history. But in 1989, she was part of the restistance movement in Halle. In this time, she moderated different assemblies and discussions between the state party SED and the opposition of the citizens. Before, she has worked at the university Halle. There she has founded a film club, in which mostly “problematic” sowjet movies were played. The change in East Germany she would describe as an “annexiation, not a revolution”. Just for the time of fall 1989 she uses the word “peaceful revolution” with an “open ending”.
We had a longer talk to her about the changing time in Eastern Germany in 1989/90.
